Title

The Muppet Show - Swedish Chef - Donuts

Subject

This humorous video shows the process of making doughnuts in Sweden, courtesy of a special Muppet guest: the Swedish Chef. The subject of the short clip is to demonstrate how to make doughnuts, a process that involves shooting holes through what appears to be English Muffins. This relates to the history of bread because it is able to show two different styles of bread in one short clip: English Muffins and doughnuts. Bread is not always in a loaf style, but instead can be almost any form of flour based product, leavened or unleavened. English Muffins and doughnuts are both unique in that they are both not baked in an oven, doughnuts are fried and English Muffins are cooked on a dry griddle and treated similar to flatbread or tortillas. These styles are important to the history of bread as they show the diversity in which flour based products are available in, and not just in one static form.

Description

This video is a humorous interpretation of how to make doughnuts, performed by the Swedish Chef on Sesame Street. He uses a "boomershootin" to punch holes in "moofin[s]" and hence, they become doughnuts. This is an example of breads being used on a children's show, although in a humorous way, but an informative way nonetheless.
